Hollywood Street Performers Code Of Conduct

• Do not solicit people to take pictures with you.  If your costume/performance is good enough, they will come to you.

• It is okay to solicit tips for photos, but let people know before photos are taken so they have a chance to decline.

• When dealing with people you must be friendly at all times. Aggressive solicitation is illegal and will not be tolerated.

• Tips are voluntary and can be any amount, including zero.

• If someone walks away without tipping, do not become aggressive and do not follow them.  These comply with the 'Aggressive Solicitation' law (see page 8 line 12 of the injunction).

• Do not quote price or suggest an amount.  That crosses the line to illegal vending. This complies with the 'Doing Business Without A License' law.

• Do not block the flow of pedestrian traffic.  Move out of the way if you have to. This complies with the 'Blocking The Sidewalk' law (see page 7 line 22 of the injunction).

I just want to add a few things that Buskers/Street Performers should always adhere to as well.

a. We are ambassadors to all who visit Hollywood, let's act as such.

b. Never work while under the influence of alcohol or any drug.

c. Never curse, fight or bring any personal problems to the block.

d. Always keep your self, your breath and your costume clean/fresh. 

e. Never smoke in front of the people, if you're character is say, the Terminator, use a fake cigar.

F. Always strive to better your costume and your performance, the people come to Hollywood to see what it's all about, give them a show that will be a great memory and keep them coming back.

Keep in mind that, due to the efforts of Paul Harrell, Melissa Beithan, Matthias Balke and Terrell "Tony" Tomey, Street Performers are now allowed and even welcomed back on Hollywood Blvd. Read and adhere to these rules of conduct and you'll make it as a Busker on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
